Overzealous British Airways – Or Do they Need a Web Designer?

Be one step ahead, register today – asks British Airways, and they sure try to be ahead of everyone, guessing every possible title BA travelers may wish to use.   I’m wondering how many:

  • Air Vice Marshals
  • Crown Princes
  • His Holinesses
  • Sultans …etc.

they really expect will register?  (hint: use the “Title” drop down menu above ‘First Name”).

Gift Giving Patented?

This has to be a joke.   I don’t have time to elaborate, running to a media round-table now.  But I think I’ll file a patent for driving a car to get to a meeting….

Update on My Z-life

(This is an update of an older post, which I don’t normally do, but Zooomr’s Mark III launch offered the opportunity I just could not resist)

I’m living a Z-life.. quite fitting for a Z-guy. I’m a life-long Z-lister, writing this post in Zoho Writer and embedding photos from Zooomr.

I’m really glad to have witnessed the exemplary co-operation between two of my Z-portfolio companies, Zoho and Zooomr, which resulted in Zooomr’s succesful re-launch. Of course this wouldn’t have happened without Robert Scoble’s help – now, you may wonder where the “Z” is in Ze Scobleizer – but he is the A-lister that cares about Z-listers the most.

Thank you guys for the wonderful display of community spirit, and I am drinking a little Z-wine in your honor.

Now, back to the Z-apps, I frequently use several other Zoho apps, especially Sheets and Show, and am previewing a few more to come. (But no, rumors of me being renamed to Zoho Zoli are not substantiated smile_thinking)

I labeled Zvents Probably the Best Event Calendar in the World! and I think I was right, even though I use it less often nowadays. Hey, the celebration partymartiniwas great, and thanks for the T-shirt! Z-shirt. smile_shades

And now that I’m done with the Z-wine, on a lazy Sunday afternoon – are there any other Z-apps I should use?

Free Beer in Denver – Lots of It

Free beer is flowing in Denver, lots of it.  Not served in the most desirable form though – it’s flowing from a derailed tanker train.

Police and firefighters are busy drinking cleaning the beer – they determined no hazardous material was present.

Watch the short CBS video here.

A Most Reasonable Purchase

The Optimus Maximus is clearly a basic necessity – every single key is a mini-display, freely configurable.

Run, pre-order, while you can,  the first batch will only be 200 units. It’s a cool $1564.37 – never mind that you can buy a really decent entire computer for the price. smile_tongue

Update (5/21): On second thought, perhaps you should hold out for this input device.  (hat tip: parislemon

uTube: Senator Stevens Was Right, After All

Senator Ted Stevens’ claim to fame (and Wikipedia entry) is not his legislative work, but his famous metaphor, comparing the Internet to series of tubes.  The world ridiculed him .. but is he turning out to be right?

uTube, as in Universal Tube & Rollform Equipment,  the Ohio pipe equipment company who saw their website wiped out by traffic looking for Youtube first filed a lawsuit againts Youtube – but does anyone really want to figth Google?  So the next best thing is figure out how to monetize the unexpected traffic.  Solution: uTube now sells ringtones.  Their tube business became a Web business overnight…

Powerpoint Just Got Obsolete

I stole the title line from a commenter on Frank Gruber’s blog.  He must be right, it’s a trend:  I’ve just seen similarly handwritten slides by SAP’s Hasso Plattner… so now it’s just a change in the … hm .. background media. smile_embaressed

Doing My Part to Save the Environment

Google’s for-profit foundation Google.org has given a $200,000 grant to CalCars.org, a group that advocates the adoption of plug-in hybrid electric cars” – reports VentureBeat.

Google co-founders Larry and Sergey were both early buyers of the Prius, and are supporters of the all-electric Tesla.”

I’m ready to do my part for the environment: with a little Google grant, I’ll be enthusiastically promoting, showing off (driving) the Tesla.  smile_regular
